I've experience the same thing except in our hot, hot climate, I would need to add some flour to the cookies to prevent them from getting to thin. So i would assume your butter firmed up the dough as it sat.. but only if it was a cool day/cold day/air conditioning - you get the idea! otherwise I have no idea!Dharmhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12509907139098039768noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7292285026495708432.post-46349517856385451782008-11-06T05:35:00.000-05:002008-11-06T05:35:00.000-05:00I don't know if this is true (although your result...I don't know if this is true (although your results seem to reveal that it is), but I've read that the secret to amazing chocolate chip cookies is letting the batter sit, the longer the better, overnight, one day, or 48 hours. Sometimes I make a tray right away so I can eat them, and stick the rest of the batter in the fridge and make it little by little.Hopiehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13753084404615138779noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7292285026495708432.post-85576727021708388562008-11-05T22:54:00.000-05:002008-11-05T22:54:00.000-05:00I bet the butter solidified a little as it sat out...I bet the butter solidified a little as it sat out - the temperature of the butter has a lot to do with spreading. That Girlhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08004439474693190019noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7292285026495708432.post-4217321566403988742008-11-05T21:02:00.000-05:002008-11-05T21:02:00.000-05:00I think there was a slow reaction between the PB &...I think there was a slow reaction between the PB & soda that made it better. Let it engulf the rest of the ingredients: it's thick, it takes time. Then, and only then, will it play nice.

And I want your favorite PB recipe regardless of when you posted it!
