Home Sweet Home

While Psychgrad is busy putting together the journey of the Bar Mitzvah cake, I thought I would sneak in and share the new digs with you.

I figure there are three types of people - a) those who handle change well and seem to be able to spin on a dime, keep on smiling and just forge forward, b) those that don't handle change well at all - life is just one huge drama after another and then c) those that think they handle change well but in reality end up sinking into the drama. We can be any one of these at any time in our lives depending on the situation. And let's not forget the "age" factor - the older we get, the more resistent we become to change. I'm definitely in category 3. These are solely my thoughts and not based in any scientific research so Psychgrad is not allowed to dispute my theories.

When I decided to sell the family home and move into a condo, I admit I was ambivalent. I'd never lived in an apartment style home before although the thought of being on one floor, as opposed to 3 levels of a house, was highly appealing. I started looking ... and looking ... and looking and was getting increasingly discouraged at the value for dollar availability in Toronto. As is the case in many cities, the closer one lives to good transportation, the higher the value of property. Also, the closer one lives to the city core, the more valuable the property.

I'm pleased to say, I finally found something I'm quite happy with and although the journey of unpacking and making it home is not over yet, it's well on it's way.

My kitchen - the calm before the movers showed up.

Need I say more?

Thank heavens for good help. Although the kitchen doesn't look this disorganized anymore, I'm waiting until it's restored to a neat and tidy kitchen before sharing more photos :). StumbleUpon

I LOVE your kitchen, and can't wait to see the wonderful creations you turn out in it. The before and after pics are a riot!

LOL ... when DH and I moved into a 2 bedroom unit I just stacked (floor to ceiling) all the boxes in the spare bedroom. It took a week to wade thru the forest of boxes and since I marked themm some never got unpacked but went straight to the storage room (holiday dec's etc).

Congratulations. Your kitchen looks lovely and those boxes remind me of all the times we had to move when my husband was in the army. Thank God we haven't moved for many years now.

I know what you mean about moving, I've been in a fair share of places too. Your place looks really nice though... and I'm sure having everything on one floor is a huge relief. There's less to clean and clutter right?

Man, you own A LOT of stuff :)

I love condo living Giz for the most part. What I miss in my place is a nice spot in the sunshine. I do have a large deck but also a huge maple tree...nice shade in the summer though. I don't think I really miss all my gardens...they took up a lot of my time:D

Congratulation on your new place. Your kitchen is beautiful. Wow, actually those boxes look so neatly line up. It's the most tidiest that I've ever seen for someone who is moving to a new place.

Your kitchen looks like mine, but with more cupboards. Same amount (or lack thereof) of counter space.

I agree, this is a new beginning for you. Have fun with it. Once you get all your things put away it will be "home" to you. What a great kitchen you have to cook. I could see that counter top filled with good food! Enjoy!
